TVIST-dotten is a traditional satirical newspaper that has been an important part of the May 17th celebration in Bergen since 1936. Every year, committed students from the University of Western Norway come together to create a newspaper that deals with the year's events and current topics with sharp and subtle humor.
With creative freedom and a satirical eye, the students create content that both entertains and provides new perspectives on the past year. As Wikipedia so accurately describes it: "It is not uncommon for the newspaper to contain articles with very little basis in reality". Here you get the freedom to write about almost anything you want! To join, just send us a message!
The newspaper is the result of students' creative collaboration and joy of writing. On National Day, you can meet the committed students and get a copy in the main procession. This makes TVIST-dotten a natural part of the city's May 17th celebration. TVIST-dotten represents not only a long tradition, but also a living community of students who come together to spread humor and joy on Norway's National Day.
For students interested in satire and creative writing, TVIST-dotten represents a unique opportunity to help continue this special tradition. Bergen Teknikersamfund is the responsible publisher of the newspaper.
